Invitation to a Live Demonstration of Collection and Recycling of Marine Litter
June 22, 2016

Last December, the European Commission identified the fight against marine litter to be a priority for the successful development of its Circular Economy Package.
It is within this context that Alain CADEC, Member of the European Parliament, Chairman of the Fisheries Committee, and Chairman of the Department of Côtes d’Armor and Thierry BURLOT, President of the Waste Sorting Center Kerval Centre Armor, Vice-President of the Bretagne Region in charge of the Environment are organizing a live demonstration of marine litter collection and recycling in collaboration with the Waste Free Oceans Foundation.
The demo will take place on July 8th at the port of Erquy in the region of Bretagne, France. Fishermen from the Fisheries Committee of the Department of Côtes d’Armor will demonstrate how they are able to collect floating marine litter with the help of the WFO trawl designed for this purpose.
On July 8th you will have the rare opportunity to not only observe first-hand the collection of marine litter in the Bay of Erquy but also follow the closing the loop cycle as you will accompany the collected litter to the waste sorting center and view the sorting process.
