Register today to join us at our exhibition on Fishing for Litter at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affaires and Fisheries on May 6th from 18.00 - 19.00.

Speeches will be made by:

- Mrs Lowri Evans, Director-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries

- Mr Alain Cadec, President of the Committee on Fisheries of the European Parliament

- Mr Ivan Victor, President of the foundation for Sustainable Fishery Development (Stichting von Duurzame Visserij Ontwikkeling, SDVO)

- Mr Bernard Merkx, Co-Founder of the Waste Free Oceans organisation (WFO)

Waste Free Oceans will be putting on display outcomes of Fishing for Litter, showcasing the many possibilities available when closing the loops by reusing waste: backpacks, jackets, benches and much more. Using WFO’s trawl technology, fishermen collect marine litter which is then recycled into useful products – successfully turning waste into value.

About Waste Free Oceans

The Waste Free Oceans Foundation removes and transforms marine litter by mobilising fisheries, recyclers and brand owners. WFO removes floating plastic debris in waste hotspots around the world and then upcycles it into meaningful products.
